BONIA AW2017/18: The Manhattan

The BONIA’s Autumn Winter Manhattan Collection is diverse and its style is unsurpassable. The ceaseless passion is inimitable. The handbags were inspired by the city’s glistening reflections and busy avenues. Its design is sleek and tells the story of the city through the lens of the 1960’s.

During the 1960’s, fashion plays an important role as it was the first time in history that clothing was geared to a wide number of diversified trends. That was an era of liberation, experimentation and self-expression.

Fashions in the early years of the decade reflect Jacqueline Kennedy, the First Lady. Women of that era wore Pillbox hats with suits in deep pastel colors, short boxy jackets with oversized buttons. Simple and humble geometric dresses, known as shifts were also a signature style. For evening wear, women would choose full-skirted gowns with a low décolletage and an embellished waistline. This Collection is also focused on Kenton Nelson’s paintings of the New York City life where modernity meets the Works Progress Administration as American life remembered and captured on canvas forever.

BONIA‘s Cherry Blossom Sonia welcomes the Chinese New Year with good fortune, class and style. The lightness, femininity and the feeling of romanticism sweeps the air that these transient flowers symbolize. With so much pink and red making an impression and infusing the spring season, it makes a great mark in the fashion line. The cherry blossom tree stands out in all its balancing grace and harmony.

What’s unique about this Collection is that the Craftsmanship lies at the heart of this unique hatter-like shaped bag. The focal point of the bag’s design is the delicate graphic silhouette of the cherry blossom tree and their pale pink buds. Crafted with fine Leather on the front and back, the Cherry Blossom Sonia comes with a statement-making tassel that anchors perfectly with the rest of the bag’s fanciful details. This is indeed a show stopping fascinator and an inevitable boost. The blooms are a symbol of the ephemeral and transient nature of life.
