Behold, The Icon of Performance and Aesthetics
The Ferrari Monza SP1 and SP2 are limited production sports cars introduced in 2018 for the 2019 model year. The cars mark the start of a new segment of models called “Icona”, aimed at creating a limited series of special cars inspired by classic Ferrari models. The intention, according to Ferrari, is to “use a modern aesthetic to reinterpret a timeless style, with technologically advanced components and the highest performance possible through continuous innovation.” The Monza SP1 and SP2 designs are inspired by the classic cars 750 Monza, 250 Testarossa and 166 MM. The SP1 is a single seater, while the SP2 features two seats.
The Monza SP1 and SP2 feature extensive use of carbon-fibre in construction and distinctive details which further enhance the cars’ exclusivity. Both the Monza SP1 and SP2 feature small scissor doors and don’t have windshields, instead relying on a patented system Ferrari calls the “Virtual Windshield”. It is designed such that it gathers air through the hood, sends it into a tight chamber, and ejects the stream just ahead of the instrument cluster. The architecture is based on a monolithic form with an aerodynamic wing profile. The complete absence of a roof and windscreen allow for unique proportions not possible on traditional spider automobiles and also increases speed.
Behind the impressive performance of the car is the most powerful engine Maranello (the home of Ferrari) has ever built. A 810 cv V12, they can sprint from 0-100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and 0-200 km/h in 7.9 seconds. The all-carbon-fibre one-piece bonnet-wing assembly is hinged at the front to showcase the imposing V12 engine once open. The sporting theme of the Ferrari Enzo is seen in the bodyshell of both cars made entirely from lightweight carbon-fibre. The entire interior is trimmed in the same material with a natural finish. Weight reduction and the “barchetta” (two-seat sports cars with either an open top or convertible roof) configuration guarantee unique vehicle dynamics and pure, uncompromising sports-car handling.
Purchasers of the very exclusive Monza SP1 or Monza SP2 will also receive racing overalls, jerseys, helmets, gloves, scarf and driving shoes to complement and give the drivers greater comfort and performance.
